The conversion gap: can a boater act without calling?

They found you, they believe you, they are on a phone at 11pm, and your site says “call for availability.”

Every slip request that arrives as a phone call or a PDF costs twice: once in the boater who did not call, and once in the staff hours spent answering the ones who did. Will my boat fit, is there a waitlist, what does a season cost, can I apply: these are the dockmaster’s first four questions, and a website can ask them, answer them, and hand the request to your booking system with the boat’s dimensions attached.

Why it matters

Friction here is the most expensive kind. Everything above it has already been paid for. And across a group, a boater who cannot get into their first-choice marina leaves the group entirely unless the site routes them to a sister property with space.

What we look at

  1. Whether a boater can enter a length and beam and see which slips fit, on a phone, without calling
  2. Whether they can join a waitlist online and see their place in line
  3. Whether they can get a cost estimate for a slip, dry stack, or winter storage
  4. Whether they can apply, book winterization or a haul-out, or request a rental in under three minutes with no PDF
  5. For groups: whether a full marina sends them to a sister property, or to a competitor

How we close it

The tool layer (a slip finder, a waitlist, a cost calculator, and the rest of the eight tools), plus conversion and user experience work measured against slip requests.

Slip tools

Will it fit, is there a waitlist, what does it cost, can I apply: answered on the site.

A slip finder by boat length and beam, a waitlist with a place in line and sister marinas that could take them sooner, a cost calculator built from your rate card, online applications instead of PDFs, winterization and haul-out booking, and a boat-fit tool for marinas with a dealership. Built once, shown on every property, handing a structured request with the boat’s dimensions to the booking system or inbox you already run.

Conversion and user experience

Fast, clear, and obvious on a phone, which is where the decision happens.

The gap between a boater noticing you and a boater requesting a slip is mostly friction: pages that take ten seconds to paint on a phone, forms that ask for everything, a rate sheet in a PDF. We measure the path from visit to request and take the friction out of it, step by step, against that number.

Measured, not guessed

Get your five gaps measured.

Give us your marina or group website. A strategist runs the checks that can be measured from outside and sends your five gaps in cost order, with the numbers behind each.

What we measure

  • Where you rank, from the towns boaters tow in from, per marina.
  • How your reviews compare with the other marinas on the lake.
  • What your site says, and whether a group reads as one.
  • Whether a boater can find a slip that fits, join a waitlist, and see a cost on a phone.

Which gap is costing you the most?

Two minutes, no email wall. Or let a strategist measure all five.
